Empyrean.

Downtown LA
I've been enchanted by turbans ever since Daddy Warbucks' trusted friend and advisor, Punjab, came on the scene. To me it held wisdom, a refined quiet confidence, and smidgen of magic. Seeing her, gave me that same feeling all over again! Turbans are incredibly cool. They're a soft accent with an old soul.

I LOVE FAKE

Toluca Lake

Downtown LA

Tis the season to be broke. Thank goodness for gorgeous little knock offs. I ain't got no shame in my game and YOU shouldn't either.

1st photo: Forever21 (haters gonna hate) buckled wedges: $29.80!!
Design originated from: Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony which retail at $625.
**F21 definitely does the job BUT I'm still obsessed and saving for the Opening Ceremony booties. Also, Jeffery Campbell has a version of these shoes as well for $144.95.**

2nd photo: Jeffery Campbell ankle booties with studs and buckles: $198!!
Design originated from: ChloƩ and retailed at $1245. Fyi, they are sold out everywhere I checked.
**I like the Jeffery Campbell's better. I know, I'm crazy. **

The links are all there. Enjoy!

we don't need no educAtion.

Downtown LA

Polite introductions: Dona Daneshi, a fashion designer who's autumn line just previewed at Chateau Marmont and her bestie Lem, who is a poet.
When I first looked at these pictures I was completely taken back. I couldn't pin point where to profess my love first. So, trusting your eye, I give you a crash course in raw style: true artists in their most natural state/dress.

So please, one by one...

take each morsel in...and be inspired.

WOW, those shoes have talent. If anyone knows where to find them please share with the class.

UPDATE 5/7/09: The Ankle Boots w/ colored lucite heel were maaaagically made by Marc Jacobs. IMUSTHAVETHEM!!!

Oh just let him...

Downtown LA

...rummage through your closet that is. Aren't you glad the days of saggy and baggy are in the past? I AM. Boys have officially embraced the "slim & fitted" on the lower region, and now that theme seems to be traveling upward. Exhibit A) the almost famous-esk fur collar coat, nicely snug if I do say so myself.

Screamin' Jay Hawkins "I put a spell on you"

Downtown LA

With a dash of pixie dust over-head downtown started to look a lot like Hogwarts...Miss Tennessee is quite the bewitching creature in her cape-like coat and Potter specs. See, winter ain't so bad.

you gotta love the bpm.

Downtown LA

Dapper dapper tapper tapper. Isn't a thrill to see a boy dress so well? Each piece was rich in it's own right and when put together a lovely swagger was achieved. From the hat placement, the bow tie, and the lean pea coat I admired each detail. Even his socks came with a purpose, if you look close they are red and dying to be seen.

CC side note: This is our 60th post:) fun times.

artsy fartsy

Downtown LA

Sometimes rainbows are not enough, and a sweet pair of bowling kicks do the trick.

Sometimes saddle shoes make a pristine comeback.

Sometimes walkin on sunshine occurs at night...

And my darlings, sometimes your boyfriend has cooler pants than you.

pick up artist.

Downtown LA

On a bright afternoon at the factory you are bound to capture a nymph fluttering about...lucky for me I brought my glass jar;) The unassuming little goddess dawned the flirtiest of skirts, the perfect aa T, and a belt to die for. Speaking of her mid section...take note of her perfect "belt bunch," (CC's term for skirt overflow ontop of belt) when done right the results can be magic.

Sunday'sBest

Downtown LA

Dresses are are the greatest invention EVER. I mean really, who has time to decide what pants go with whatever blouse?? Just throw on a dress and focus on the bag&shoes.

Take a tip from the lovely above. Typically, an 80's church dress will look absolutely frightening on a hanger...dated, tacky, ug. BUT with the right stuff (hair, shoes, bag) the dress can take on a whole new life. That duffel and those ankle boots have my heart.

CC side note: If you're in LA you must check out the Downtown Art Walk. It happens every 2nd Thursday of the month. Freeee wine, fantastic ART, walking, talking, hipster watching, hot dogs, me, music...

anoraak nightdrive with you

Downtown LA

Even though I only new her for about 20 seconds I could tell this outfit was "so her". Mickey brought on the playful innocence and Mr. Chaplin brought on the charm. It was simple, original, and cool to look at. Moral of the story: MORE GIRLS need to wear BOWLERS!

state of hearts

Downtown LA

If Pink and Green are lovers, then Pink and Red are best friends. Her quiet confidence and bright colors gave her a lovely distinction among the crowd.

CactusFlower

Downtown LA

What a gorgeous dress, its simple cut & floral pattern were completely charming. A total Goldie Hawn moment, circa 1969. Summers in full bloom kiddos, enjoy:)

He looks good and he wears it well. Clark Kent 2.0.
CC side note:
The secret to a great pair of jeans is the fit, always choose fit (aka Does is flatter your body type?) over trendy-ness.

Forever goldie.

Downtown LA

Allow me to state the obvious...gorgeous girl, great styling, AMAZING BAG. Studded everything is coming back in a huuuuge way. I've been living in my jean shorties and plaid button ups ever since summer started. Perfect outfit for LA's breezy summer nights.

(click the pic to view up close...you'll be glad you did)

p.s. Dear Ladyship, If you happen to be reading this...where did you get that bag????

The sun shines outta my...

Downtown LA
You would die if you saw the chase that went down to get this picture. No joke...hilarious. The first thing that caught my eye was that fantastic shade of blue. I like that he "french rolled" the bottom of his skinnies. Dope loafers. Perfect and practical accessories... including his yellow bike.

Walkin' in L.A.

Downtown LA

The use of swim wear as street wear is genius. When it comes to boardies/trunks I say the funkier the print the better. Lucky for you they aren't hard to find, I'm seeing 80's inspired trunks everywhere from skate shops to charity stores. Hmmm I think it's safe to say moooostache is the new black.

A fun blend of masculine and feminine. Leopard & Lace meets Spartaaaaaa!
